Teanie Beanie name theory

Thanks to the image posted on the Australian Happy Meal website (above), we know the names of eight of the 15 new Teenie Beanie Boos. However, since the Teenie Boos are not obviously based on existing regular-sized Boos, I assumed we’d have to wait until they actually hit Happy Meals to learn the other seven.

However, those eight names seemed a little familiar to me, so I looked back through past Teenie Beanie promotions, and found that each of those eight names was also the name of a Teenie Beanie Baby from previous. It then occurred to me that, since this year marks 20 years since Teenie Beanies first appeared at McDonald’s, maybe Ty has a little nostalgia up its sleeve.

Here’s my theory: These 15 characters are Teenie Boo versions of Teenie Beanie Babies that were in Happy Meals from 1997 through 2000, arguably the time frame when the toys would have been at the height of popularity. A little extra research seems to potentially confirm my theory. Check out the table below to see my hypothesized names of this year’s Teenie Beanies compared to their original counterparts.
